Class I–III Whitewater Rowing Clinic

Learn to confidently row a whitewater raft in Class II Whitewater for both recreational rafting and fly fishing on the Wild & Scenic Middle Fork Feather River.

This limited-enrollment clinic is designed for boaters with prior rowing experience who own their own raft and want to take their skills to the next level. Whether you’re refining fundamentals or building confidence in moving water, this course will sharpen your technique and decision-making on the river.

We’ll begin with proper raft and oar setup, including frame configuration, oar length, boat safety, and reading whitewater. Both days will be spent on the river rowing Class I–III whitewater (primarily Class II), with hands-on instruction covering:

  • Efficient rowing techniques

  • Reading Whitewater and features

  • Shooting the “V”

  • Catching and holding eddies

  • Downstream oar management

  • Oar shipping and recovery

  • Safe and effective boat control and maneuvering

Dates: March 14th and 15th 2026

Our Location!

The Northern Sierra Watershed in Plumas County offers some of California’s most scenic and remote whitewater rafting, defined by steep forested canyons, clear snowmelt flows, and a strong sense of wilderness.

Class Size - personalization!

Small class sizes, 2-6 students, with an instructor-to-student ratio of 2:1. We take pride in personalization, safety, and amazing days on the river!

  • Day 1
    Boat Set up, saftey talk, equipment set up ~2 hours - remainder of day is spent rafting!

    Day 2
    Full day of rafting on the river!

  • Limited to 4 participants with a possible 2nd clinic based on demand!

    Bring your own Raft (self-bailing only)
    I have one raft for rent, $150.00 per day - RMR PhatCat with NRS Frame and 8 ft oars

    Bring your own dry suit, PFD, helmet
    Dry suit rentals can be arranged
